I will let you speculate how many times this was re-written (its in the double digits…) as it evolved from a Wiki factual listing of what I’ve done to high fantasy story writing about great deeds (if the pen is mightier than the sword where does the paint brush rank?) its ended up on something more akin to a diary style meandering of thoughts and reflections.
Those in the know, of which I am not one, will likely already have picked up many grammatical Faux Pas in the opening statement. I’m afraid if that’s something that will grind your gears (like a southern American accent on an instructional video) then maybe stop now and spend the rest of your day in a more literate competent pursuit.

So the above snip is of an excel I use to try and rationalise the piles of grey shame… It gives a slightly more cheery view of the world as a by-product of printed terrain already being ‘built’ as opposed to a kit from Games Workshop.
Now I think about it to be true to the backlog view of what is unbuilt it should include all saved files which would push the count into the 1000’s!

What to expect from this blog / personal record keeping. Hopefully some nice images, of so not so nicely painted models and some accompanying text that vaguely relates to them.
To that end the Egyptian robots above are largely GW plastic with the exception of the war of the world’s style Doom Stalker which is Resin proxy printed on my Elegoo Saturn 4.

As a collective neural net they form one of the Necron combat patrols called ‘Amonhotekh’s Guard’ which are 40k answer to creating a set of single boxes that are ‘balanced’ and have everything to play smaller games (they are all roughly 500 point boxes).

They have been coloured in a none cannon scheme (not one of the codex dynasties, maybe they are out cast poorly constructed and finished group) and taught me very quickly that yellow / orange / red paints are thin and do not cover particularly well. But having started down the road I continued headlong to completing them.
The impetus to complete these particular models was an invite to combat patrol day amongst a group who need a similar motivation to complete at least on box, roughly 20 models. The host brought out a stunningly painted Ork brigade called ‘Gordrang’s Gitstompas’ you can find them here fortsyllabub – readying-the-combat-patrol. There was also a Votann scout group (which made short work of my Necron force) and a standard marine strike force which will feature in a later post.

Its always at the end of the day tidying or driving home I realise I should have taken some decent images (I did manged to remember to take these four haphazardly) it was a great day with much rules learning for some and relearning for those who are coming to a new edition!
I will wrap it here in part because its already becoming one of the longest none employment based texts I’ve written in a long time and in part because it late!
The plan for the next post will be some Star Wars minis / Terrain and Cosplay props in various states of completion.
